Description

These industrious little birds spend much of their time on the hunt for burrowing sectids. A Hoploe's long, spear-like beak grants it the ability to dig into their burrows, whether they be in the earth, or in the wood of trees. Their loud, horn-like cries support their social nature, allowing them to communicate over significant distance. A Hoploe pack can be quite aggressive and territorial towards other crytures as well, giving these calls a secondary use in coordinating attacks, or scaring away rivals. Their odd wings are protected by hardened, nearly metallic, feathers, which they use to shield themselves, and their allies, from attacks.
