Stealth Encounter

Scenario

When players are able to catch a foe unaware, they may engage them in a Stealth Encounter rather than a direct confrontation.

A Stealth Encounter takes place in Tactical Time, using a tactical map. Players have the opportunity to set up for an ambush, lure enemies away, or try to bypass them entirely by employing different actions.

Rules

When beginning a Stealth Encounter, players will roll Initiative to determine turn order.

Enemies can have three different States during a Stealth Encounter as follows, in order.

  • Unaware enemies are relaxed and not looking for threats. When attacking an Unaware combatant, a Miss counts as a Hit, and a Hit counts as a Crit.

  • Alert enemies are at attention and actively on the lookout for threats.

  • Aware enemies know where the players are. When enemies become Aware, it becomes a Combat Encounter.

Enemies do not roll Initiative or enter the turn order until they become Alert. If enemies decide to take actions while Unaware, they do so at the end of the round.

If a player ends their turn without being Obscured or behind Cover, the enemy party automatically becomes Aware and combat begins. Attacking an enemy increases their State by 1 level.
