Hawlo
Description
Although Hawlo makes a number of vocalizations, their main form of communication appears to come through their eyes. By causing the glow of their eyes to dim and brighten, Hawlos can send out pulsing signals to one another, allowing them to communicate in total silence. This feature can also be used to briefly stun prey with hypnotic patterns while the rest of the flock swoops in for an ambush. Subcrytures are unaffected by this hypnotic effect, however, meaning they must rely on stealthy flight to catch some of their favorite snacks - carnids and sectids.
Combat
Hawlo’s focus on melee combat means that their flight is of limited use in battle. They typically engage an enemy by swooping in from above to attack whichever foe appears to be the weakest. Hawlos may deliberately surround themselves with enemies, as many of their powers can hit multiple adjacent foes at once. They also have a number of ways to buff and heal one another, should one of their friends get in over its head.
